PROJECTS

In our projects, we support various rural livelihood methods in countries of the Global South. Our focus is on agriculture, forestry, agroforestry, aquaculture and beekeeping. Each project is implemented together with a local producer organisation, a forest‑owner or tree‑grower association, a cooperative or a union of cooperatives. The projects train farmers, strengthen local organizations, improve product value chains and enhance producers’ access to markets.

At the moment, FFD supports unions and cooperatives in Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda and Vietnam.

“bites of change” - Connect for global change

FFD’s and Maa- ja kotitalousnaiset’s Connect for Global Change project “Bites of Change” is a one‑year initiative (2025–2026) that responds to several global challenges by encouraging young people to engage in promoting a sustainable food system and climate change mitigation.

Forests and Sustainable Development – Become an Influencer Through Knowledge and Skills!

FFD’s communication and global education project for 2023–2024, “Forests and Sustainable Development – Become an Influencer Through Knowledge and Skills!”, introduces lower secondary school pupils, upper secondary and vocational students, as well as university‑level forestry students and teachers, to the importance of forest expertise in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.

The project also integrates a global perspective into the national Metsävisa forest knowledge competition targeted at lower secondary school pupils.
